VEGETABLE, FORAGE CROPS, INDUSTRIAL AND ORNAMENTAL PLANTS PEST DEPARTMENT

The main tasks of the department are to diagnose fungal diseases damaged at vegetable, forage, industrial and ornamental plants using morphological and molecular methods, to determine their prevalence and level of incidence, to reveal their biology, epidemiology, and control methods.  

Studies are carried out within the scope of projects supported by TAGEM. These are:    

  • Conducting Research on the Detection and Control of Diseases and Pests in the Central Anatolia Region Cumin Cultivation Areas,
  • Determination of diseases in legumes (chickpea-bean), dry bean breeding studies, development of resistant lines against anthracnose disease pathotypes in chickpea, variety reactions and control,
  • Determination of pests and diseases in clover seed fields of Central Anatolia Region and determination of control methods.
  • Determination of the prevalence, genetic diversity and control methods of white rot disease in lettuce
  • Management of Plant Genetic Resources of the Turkish National Botanical Garden, which is carried out together with the Turkish National Botanical Garden,
  • Studies are carried out on the detection, molecular and morphological diagnosis of fungal diseases, especially Potato wart disease (Synchtrium endobioticum).

In the Department, with fungal diseases in vegetables, feed, industry and ornamental plants, according to the organisms included in the "Regulation of Plant Passport System and Registration of Operators", analyzes are made in terms of potato wart disease in soil samples sent from seedling nursery and seed potato production areas for certification purposes.
