Pesticide Formulation Laboratory
Agricultural Pesticide Laboratories are leading laboratories in their field in our country.
In the Department of Agricultural Pesticides, research studies on plant protection product formulations, physical and chemical analyzes within the scope of quality control of pesticides, analysis of impurity that should not be in the content of pesticies, and residue analyzes in agricultural products are carried out.
Within the scope of research activity, Research projects were carried out on;
- Formulations of plant protection products and the opportunity to use of local inert ingredients and plant oils in formulations,
- Development of microbial pesticides,
- Investigation of the possibilities of using some sulphur compounds as plant protection product,
- Water quality assasment, used in the application of plant protection products,
- Pesticide residues in agricultural products,
- Effect of the country's climate on the shelf life of pesticides.
Research projects are still being carried out on;
- Formulation development of pesticides which contains plant essential oils and microbial agents,
- International methods, used in plant protection product and technical substance analysis.
In the scope of training programs, training and consultancy services are provided to various institutions and organizations about "Production, Formulation, Residue, Use and Analysis of Plant Protection Products, Technical and Active Substances".
As a result of a research project carried out in the department, the attractant, Ziray, developed by Dr. Ayten GÜVENER and was made available for Turkish farmers, licensed on behalf of Central Plant Protection Research Institute. It has been used successfully in olive orchards since 1984 against an important pest of olive, the Olive fly (Bacterocera oleae (Gmel.)).
