CEREAL PESTS' DEPARTMENT

Research studies on pests are conducted to understand how they manage and how to adapt pre-existing techniques to the current situation to develop pest management plans for pests that damage grain. The department's duties include providing technical assistance for the management of pests with epidemic traits, such as the Sunn pest, Wheat Stink Bug, and Egyptian leafworms. The researchers also carry out evaluations for grain import, export, and hazardous organisms.

In Central Anatolian wheat-barley, corn, and rice paddy agricultural areas, the prevalence and densities of pests were assessed. The wheat-barley-damaging Sunn pests, Wheat stink bug, Cereal ground beetle, Crop bamboo beetle, and Cereal proboscis beetle have been identified, and control strategies have been stated clearly.

The economic loss thresholds of Sunn pest and Wheat stink bug in the Central Anatolian Region were established and carried out in practice.
