Rangelands are not only areas that provide forage for livestock but also complex socio-ecological systems with critical functions such as preserving biodiversity, preventing erosion, and maintaining rural heritage. However, a significant portion of rangelands in our country and around the world has been degraded due to various factors. To prevent further degradation and ensure sustainable rangeland management, efforts have been expanded with technological advancements.

Supported by TÜBİTAK KAMAG 1007, the National Rangeland Utilization and Management Project has established a comprehensive database through modern technologies, creating significant capacity for monitoring and assessing rangelands in Türkiye. The next step is to transfer this scientific knowledge into practice by collaborating with rangeland commissions and farmers to contribute to sustainable production. These initiatives will provide both environmental and socio-economic benefits.
