VISIT FROM GEORGIA TO OUR INSTITUTE

​A delegation from the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia visited our Institute within the scope of biological control studies against the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (Halyomorpha halys).

With the participation of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yunus BAYRAM, Deputy General Director of Food and Control at the Republic of Türkiye the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the meetings were held with the delegation consisting of Dr. Levan Ujmajuridze, Director of the Scientific Research Center of Agriculture of Georgia, Dr. Zurab Lipartia, Deputy Head of the National Food Agency, and Dr. Nikoloz Meskhi, Head of the Plant Protection Department. During the meetings, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Betül Bayraklı, Director of the Institute, Deputy Director Mehmet Erdoğmuş, and Technical Affairs Coordinator Hayati Kar provided comprehensive information about our Institute and the studies being conducted.

The meetings were also attended by İbrahim SAĞLAM, Director of Samsun Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry; Lale Baykal, Head of the Department of Plant Production and Plant Health; Özcan Kesen, Director of Samsun Plant Quarantine Directorate; and the technical team of the Samsun Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry.

During the discussions, the researchers from our Institute's Biological Control Laboratory shared their knowledge and experience on the egg production of the brown marmorated stink bug and the rearing and release of its natural enemy, the parasitoid Trissolcus japonicus. It was also stated that technical support would be provided for the biological control laboratory planned to be established in Georgia.
