​Our department is engaged in activities related to protection of domestic animal resources. Our aim is to protect the domestic animal resources from extinction. Department's research and protection activities are focused on South Anatolia Red Beef, Domestic South Yellow Beef, Halep Goat and Kilis Goat races. A herd covering 90 piece of South Anatolia Red Beef is currently under protection in our Institute. Also protection activities are continuing in coordination with 452 public breeders on South Anatolia Red Beef race in 4 regions, Domestic South Yellow Beef race  in 8 regions, Kilis goat race in 3 regions and Halep goat race in 1 region​
