UNIT OF CLIMATE CHANGE AND DROUGHT RESEARCH

AİM OF THE UNIT

It is carrying out studies on the effects of climate changes occurring or likely to occur in our country on the country's agriculture, measures to be taken against drought, and the development of alternative agricultural patterns and methods.

DUTİES OF THE UNIT

For this purpose,

4 rain shelters were established within the Institute. Rain shelters are designed to automatically cover the test with sensors sensitive to precipitation. It is a system that can move on a rail system with the dimensions of 12m X 35m, covered with a transparent polyethylene sheet that can transmit sunlight.

 

  1. The main task of the Unit is to test the genotypes of different plant species (especially Cool Climate Cereals) for drought resistance under Rain Shelters.
  2. The Unit's duties include assisting in the breeding of drought-resistant varieties,
  3. Conducting research on drought,
  4. Exchanging information with subject experts
  5. Informing producers.
