International Medical Leech Workshop was hosted by our Institute Directorate between 15-16 April 2025.

Isparta Deputy Governor Hasan Hüseyin VURAL, Eğirdir District Governor Ömer CİMŞİT, managers and representatives of the General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Policies, managers and representatives of the General Directorate of Fisheries and Aquaculture, managers and representatives of Afyonkarahisar, Balıkesir, Burdur, Bursa, Denizli, Isparta, Istanbul, Konya, Sakarya, Yalova Provincial Directorates of Agriculture and Forestry, A total of 120 people (80 face-to-face, 40 online) including the managers and representatives of Trabzon Fisheries Central Research Institute Directorate, Akdeniz Fisheries Research, Production and Training Institute Directorate, Elazığ Fisheries Research Institute Directorate, Dean and faculty members of ISUBU Eğirdir Fisheries Faculty, public institutions and organisations in Isparta province, private sector representatives participated in the workshop.

In the workshop, 6 face-to-face and 7 online presentations were made by 13 speakers from 5 countries (Azerbaijan, Iran, Romania, Tunisia, Ukraine) and knowledge, experience and innovations were shared with the participants through panels and workshops. The workshop aimed to ensure the sustainable use of medicinal leeches, to base breeding and hunting activities on scientific foundations, to offer solutions to the problems faced by the sector and to establish permanent bridges that will strengthen international cooperation.
