Our Execution Area

Our Institute's regional jurisdiction encompasses the provinces of Mersin, Adana, Osmaniye, Hatay, Antalya, and Kahramanmaraş. The main areas of focus are fruit cultivation, viticulture, vegetable farming, ornamental plants, medicinal herbs, soil-water resources, and apiculture. Within this scope and areas of emphasis, our Institute is responsible for the following:

Conducting fundamental and applied research utilizing innovative techniques and technologies like biotechnology to develop new varieties, strains, increase yields, and improve quality that align with market demands, while enhancing resistance to diseases, pests, and adverse environmental conditions.

Enhancing the effectiveness of agricultural mechanization and information technologies, precision farming techniques, and early warning systems to improve plant nutrition, agricultural practices, and pest management, while also researching ways to minimize harvest and post-harvest losses.

Registering the developed varieties and strains resulting from breeding efforts, ensuring the continuity of breeding materials, and producing elite and cultivar seeds.

Engaging in efforts to conserve and sustainably utilize plant genetic resources for the preservation of biological diversity within the defined scope. This includes collection, preservation, identification, introduction into cultivation when necessary, and utilization in breeding programs.

Establishing 1st and 2nd parcels essential for certification of instutete-owned varieties, conserving base material, and providing qualified propagation material to requesting nurseries.

Developing suitable methods and technologies for efficient water usage in agriculture, determining the conditions for the utilization of low-quality waters in agricultural irrigation.

Assessing the potential productivity of soils, investigating the impact of plant nutrients and soil conditioners on soil productivity and quality, and developing appropriate fertilization techniques.

Protecting and ensuring sustainable use of water resources in basins.

Identifying necessary measures and developing feasible improvement methods to reduce the adverse effects of salinity, erosion, and desertification.

Researching beekeeping techniques to enhance productivity, breeding, and production, as well as working on quality and productivity aspects of bee products.

Determining potential changes caused by climate change in soil, water resources, and plant production, and providing suitable adaptation recommendations.

Monitoring and observing the vegetation in assigned plant groups, preparing reports that include growth and harvest period estimates, and offering preventive recommendations to decision-makers, including suggestions to avert potential crises.
