Department of Agricultural Economics

Within the scope of our institution's responsibilities in the region where agricultural products are cultivated, our aim is to conduct social and economic research at both regional and national levels, utilizing the fundamental principles of economics. Our focus is on analyzing the economic data of agricultural products, particularly those relevant to our region, and tracking the market trends both domestically and internationally.

Furthermore, our responsibilities include organizing research and dissemination activities tailored to the evolving structures and conditions to ensure the rational utilization and management of agricultural resources at regional and national levels. We aim to contribute to the development of science and technology within the field while addressing agricultural challenges.

As the world's population continues to grow and the demand for food products rapidly increases, the limited nature of production resources highlights concepts such as resource efficiency and productivity. The focus is shifting towards not just producing more, but also effectively and rationally utilizing resources, emphasizing the importance of efficient resource management.

Within the scope of our responsibilities, both nationally and internationally, our focus includes:

  1. Research on Agricultural Production Management

  2. Research on Agricultural Markets and Consumption

  3. Rural Development Research

  4. Evaluation of the Effects of Agricultural Policies

  5. Research on Agricultural Production Costs

  6. Research on Production Plans

  7. Market and Marketing Research in Agriculture and Agro-industry

  8. Preparation and evaluation of feasibility reports for agricultural and agro-industrial investment projects

In this context, at ALATA, located in one of the regions with the most intensive agricultural production in Turkey, a total of 25 research projects in the field of agricultural economics have been concluded from 1978 to the present day. Additionally, collaborative projects with various institutions and organizations are still ongoing.
