Phytopathology Laboratory

In the Phytopathology laboratory of the institute, bacterial, fungal, and viral agents that cause diseases in plants are isolated.

Intensive use of pesticides against disease agents has many adverse side effects on humans and the environment. This situation has focused our researchers on studies to reduce the use of pesticides. Researchers are investigating the possibilities of combating Bacterial and Fungal factors that cause economic damage to fruits and vegetables by using environmentally friendly microorganisms. Thanks to research, it is aimed that our producers obtain more efficiency by using fewer chemicals. In addition, pathogenicity tests are carried out within the scope of ongoing improvement projects in our institution. Searches are still in progress to determine the resistance of the obtained breeding materials against diseases by classical methods.
