Rainbow Trout Production

​The production of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) was started  to support producers with qualified and healthy broodstock and fish fries in our institute in 1983, that year national production was 440 tones. After this period, It was determined that our waters was suitable for breeding but not suitable for hatchery conditions because of high temperature in summer, high hardness and lack of filtration systems.Therefore, a trout fry production unit has been established by using available water resources in Ulupınar village away 70 km from Antalya on the Kemer-Finike way within the forest. The capacity of unit has been increased to 1.000.000 (one million) piece/year with arrangements and extras. 

The demands of trout producers were met with fry and portion sized trout in 1980's and 1990's because of lack of efficient equipment and knowledge.

Production of fry and portion sized trout has been decided to reduce in only research studies because of increasing fish production, being lots of fry and portion sized fishes and situation in trout production.
