Soil and Water Resources

About the Department

Introduction :

Although the Institute has taken various names from its foundation day to its reorganization in 2005, the Department of Soil and Water Resources continues its activities in the study area with research projects, tests and demonstrations, field days and trainings under four main disciplines.

Purpose and Target:

To develop appropriate methods and technology for the effective use of water in agriculture, to determine the conditions of use of low quality water in agricultural irrigation, to determine the measures to be taken to reduce the negative effects of salinity, erosion and desertification, and to develop applicable breeding methods.
To determine the fertility potential of soils, to investigate the effects of plant nutrients and soil conditioners on soil fertility and quality, and to develop appropriate fertilization techniques.
To protect water resources in the basins and ensure their sustainable use, To identify possible changes that climate change will cause in soil, water resources and crop production, and to develop appropriate adaptation suggestions.
To increase efficiency in plant nutrition and agricultural control with agricultural mechanization and information technologies, precision agriculture techniques or early warning systems, and to conduct research to reduce harvest and post-harvest product losses.
