About the Department

Introduction :

The Plant Health Department was established with the restructuring of our Ministry in 2012 and has started to work in the provinces that fall under its responsibility since then. Our department still continues its activities with projects in different disciplines.


Purpose and Target:

In the provinces under the responsibility of our institute; To identify harmful organisms that are a problem in plants and plant products, to determine their distribution, density and damage levels, to determine their economic damage levels and control thresholds.
To determine the control methods for reducing the use of chemical inputs in the control of harmful organisms.
To conduct research on alternative control issues to chemical control.
Establishing pesticide resistance monitoring and management programs.
To carry out 'Biological Activity Trial Inspections' of the General Directorate of Food and Control in our region and Thrace region.
Establishing an accredited plant healthlaboratory.
Use of pesticide application techniques and technologies to reduce pesticide use.
Determination of harmful organisms resistant to pesticides in our region, preparation of resistance monitoring and management programs.
Conducting studies on resistance to harmful organisms.
To carry out national and international multidisciplinary projects.
Studying and integrating prediction and early warning methods in the control of harmful organisms.
