About the Department

Introduction:

The field crops department in our institute was established with the restructuring of our Ministry in 2012 and still in our department; Projects on plant breeding techniques and breeding and plant genetic resources are carried out.

In industrial plants; potato and confectionary-oil sunflower, Medicinal and aromatic plants; Nigella sativa, fennel, cognac, lemongrass, sugar grass, lavender, buckwheat, poppy, Meadow pasture fodder plants; It continues its activities with projects in different disciplines, especially in the fields of bird's foot trefoil, awnless bromine, and crested wheatgrass.


Purpose and Target:

To carry out research (breeding, breeding technique, etc.) activities aimed at solving the problems related to the product or product group, production system or production factor determined in prioritized issues.
To carry out projects that will contribute to the sustainable use and improvement of natural resources in accordance with the country's primary policies in the field of agriculture.
To carry out national and regional applied research projects in the fields of study related to its subject or to participate in such projects,
Participating in technical personnel and farmer trainings related to the subject,
To produce all kinds of products and production materials related to its subject and to evaluate them,
Collecting and evaluating data on the subject,
With the projects to be carried out, to contribute to the basic policies of the country in the field of agriculture, as well as to food safety, to increase the productivity and quality in agricultural production,
To preserve the plant genetic resources in our region and to use them in breeding, to contribute to the sustainable use and improvement of natural resources,
To develop varieties with high economic value suitable for the region,
Developing cultivation techniques suitable for the species and varieties studied for sustainable agricultural cultivation,
To contribute to the regional economy by enriching the product variety in our region.
