​About the Department

Introduction :

Studies on Horticulture at our institute started in 2010. With the restructuring of our Ministry in 2012, the Department of Horticulture was established. Since 2012, projects on plant cultivation and breeding and biodiversity have been carried out in the provinces that fall under the responsibility of the institute. In our department, new project studies for the solution of agricultural production problems in our region have continued.

Purpose and Target:

To carry out breeding and variety development research using all kinds of techniques.
To do research on breeding techniques.
Collecting and preserving gene resources.
To establish the rootstock and variety material plots of the developed varieties, to produce the qualified production material of these varieties, to preserve the developed varieties.
To carry out national and regional applied research projects in the fields of study related to the subject or to participate in such projects.
Participating in technical personnel and farmer trainings related to the subject.
To perform trial and control services related to the subject.
To produce all kinds of products and production materials related to the subject and to evaluate them.
Collecting and evaluating data on the subject.
To preserve the plant genetic resources in our region and to use them in breeding.
To develop varieties of vegetables and fruits with high economic value suitable for the region.
To develop cultivation techniques in fruit and vegetable varieties suitable for our region.
To contribute to the regional economy by enriching the product variety in our region.
