The TIMMOD-NEXT project will hold its 1st Cluster Event from 2 to 6 November 2026 in Trabzon, Türkiye, hosted by the Central Fisheries Research Institute (SUMAE). The event will bring together project partners, researchers, technical experts and stakeholders from the Black Sea region to exchange knowledge, demonstrate innovative technologies and strengthen cooperation in sustainable fisheries and aquaculture.
A central component of the programme will be the first pilot testing activities, organized on 2 - 3 November at SUMAE's research facilities. Under the theme Smart Aquaculture and Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS), participants will explore modern aquaculture infrastructure, water-quality monitoring, sensors, automation and innovative technologies through technical visits and practical demonstrations. The programme will also include the first Innovation Review Committee (IRC) Meeting and the planned official launch of the SUMAE Open-Air Lab.
On 4 November, the Transnational Expert Workshop & Peer-Review Meeting will provide a platform for project partners and external experts to present and discuss innovative approaches to fisheries monitoring, aquatic ecosystem research, autonomous monitoring technologies, digital solutions and smart aquaculture. Interactive peer-review sessions will assess the scientific and technical quality of the proposed approaches, their practical applicability and opportunities for transfer and cooperation between the five Open-Air Labs.
Through practical testing, expert evaluation and transnational cooperation, TIMMOD-NEXT aims to strengthen the foundations of a lasting innovation network supporting more sustainable, technologically advanced fisheries and aquaculture across the Black Sea region.
TIMMOD-NEXT – Enhancing innovation capacities and uptake of advanced technologies towards sustainable fisheries and eco-friendly aquaculture in the Black Sea (BSB01206) – is co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme.
