Within the scope of the IAEA-supported project titled "Implementation of SIT for Suppression and Eradication of Medfly in Türkiye " subject matter expert Roberto ANGULO KLADT from Mexico visited our Institute between 16–20 June 2025. During the visit, the ground-based Sterile Insect Release Machine, which was recently acquired by our Institute, was installed and calibrated. Subsequently, a small-scale sterile insect release was carried out as a trial. In addition, citrus orchards in the Gümüldür region of Menderes district, İzmir province, where sterile insect releases are planned, were inspected on-site, and technical evaluations were conducted regarding the release program and routes. The Institute's administration, technical staff of the Biotechnical Control Department, and the Institute's entomologists actively participated in the activities.
