The 13th International Symposium on Fruit Flies of Economic Importance (ISFFEI), one of the world’s leading international scientific events on fruit flies, is scheduled to be held in Izmir, Türkiye in 2030.
The symposium, organized every four years, was officially announced during the 12th ISFFEI held in Agadir, Morocco. Türkiye’s candidacy presentation was delivered by Dr. Ümran Akkan Demirer, technical expert of the Bornova Plant Protection Research Institute, and was accepted by the Steering Committee.
Hosted by the Bornova Plant Protection Research Institute, the symposium will bring together international scientists, researchers, and technical experts working on fruit fly management, Sterile Insect Technique (SIT), biological control, integrated pest management, quarantine applications, and sustainable agricultural production.
