Tekirdağ Viticulture Research Institute is the first institution responsible for the conservation of vine genetic resources. The "Determination, Conservation and Identification of Grapevine Genetic Resources (National Collection Vineyard)" project which it started in 1965, is still ongoing and 1439 grape genotypes have been preserved as of 2020.
The main goals of the project are to preserve the grapevine genetic resources of our country, to carry out characterization studies of the collected material and to ensure that it is used in breeding studies.
In 2012, "Turkey Grapevine Genetic Resources Catalog" was publihed and distributed to relevant institutions, universities and persons. It is possible to reach the catalog from the link below.

Our institute has a leaf and seed herbarium of vine genetic resources.
All the
data of grape genotypes were recorded with project "Turkey
Vineyard
Genetic Resources Database". In 2021, information will be avaliable
on
the
vitis.tagem.gov.tr web page.
