Tekirdağ Viticulture Research Instute was established in 1930 to promote the regional grapevine sector with propagation of American grapevine rootstocks for re-establishing vineyards.

The institution had mainly focused on rootstock production until scientific research studies based on projects started in 1958.  The institute started to conduct projects in collaboration with other institutes to find solutions to all production problems in 1979. Tekirdağ Viticulture Research Instıtute aimed on to promote the viticultural structure  via ongoing research and development, education and production activities.
