Fruit Research Institute (MAREM), which is one of the most important Research Institutes of Turkey and our county, always continues to host important panels.

One of them is the panel titled "Plant Protection Management Problems and Solutions in Orchards of the Lakes Region" was held in the education center of Fruit Research Institute.

Isparta Deputy Governor Hakan Kubalı, Isparta University of Applied Sciences (ISUBÜ) Faculty of Agriculture Dean Prof. Dr. Mevlüt Gül, Vice Dean Assoc. Dr. Mehmet Polat, Egirdir Mayor Veli Gök, as well as Academicians, Faculty of Agriculture students, Fruit Producers, Reeves and Private Sector representatives were attended in the panel.

"Plant Protection Management Problems and Solutions in the Lake District Orchards II" panel started with a minute of silence for our eternal martyrs and Idlib martyrs for our Leader, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the Founder of TURKEY and also with our national anthem.

Egirdir Fruit Research Institute Director Şerif Özongun's speech, who made the first speech before the protocol speeches in the panel titled "Plant Protection Management Problems and Solutions in the Lake District Orchards II"; He started by respecting all of our Turkish soldiers who were martyrs for Idlib province and in Turkey.

"EĞİRDİR MAREM IS A LOCOMOTIVE INSTITUTION"

Özongun stated the following in his speech: "Welcome to our panel titled" Plant Protection Management Problems and Solution Suggestions in the Orchards of the Lakes Region -II", which we organize for the second time this year and which we traditionally want to continue on different subjects.

In our institution, which was established as a fruit nursery in 1952 and has been operating with various names until 1994, we continue our studies as well as research activities in our institution.

Dr. Özongun said that our institution has played a important role in the adaption of cultures of full and semi-dwarf horticultural systems to farmers, pruning, fertilizing, irrigation techniques, using winter vaccination and storage in nursery, and using many different cultivation techniques. And at first Eğirdir farmer and then Western Mediterranean Region Producers met up with innovations, the first studies in our country were carried out in our Institute and still continue in the new storage techniques.

It should not be forgotten that we are an institution that provides reliable service to our farmers in terms of phytosanitary and nutrition with a equipped laboratories.

In our 26-year institute lifetime, around 150 projects have been completed and in terms of production, especially walnut and lavender, have been served in the interior regions. Significant distances have been taken in the breeding programs in which we have started in the early 2000s and registration of new varieties has already begun in 7 pear varieties. As of 2020, 8 major breeding projects continue within our institute, which are the important species of temperate climate fruits.

Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences of Isparta University of Applied Sciences (ISUBÜ), who made a speech Prof. Dr. Mevlüt GÜL "As you know, agriculture is a branch of science dealing with live things. We're dealing with a living organisms as a profession. Especially after 1990 food safety has become an important in the world and Turkey. This kind panel programmes, would be useful to our shearers. I wish it to be good panel". He said.

Deputy Governor Dr. KUBALI: "OUR SCIENTISTS WILL INFORM US AND WE WILL INFORM OUR FARMERS"

Isparta Deputy Governor, who made a speech at the panel named "Plant Protection Management Problems and Solutions in the Lake District Orchards II". Hakan Kubalı also said: "I would like to thank the Eğirdir Fruit Research Institute Directorate and the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences. He said that Republic is actually the management of the institutions. People idealistic patriots, intellectuals are establishing the Republic of Turkey. Fruit Research was established in Isparta its history founded in 1952. It is an institution where most boast of the Turkish nation. I think we all remember all the public officials who have worked for this institution, regardless of their level, who have worked hard for this country, with mercy and respect. Anyone who is member of the Turkish nation and we are all so proud of it. We all aim to the development of the Turkish nation, the Republic of Turkey and the progress of modernization and to contribute to Turkish farmers. Turkish farmer, Turkish people deserve the best of everything. We have been living in a homeland of ancestors, martyrs, who have suffered tremendously throughout history, but also have great victories and history, and have blood in every part of this sacred homeland. Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk has set a target for the Turkish nation. This goal is to modernizing and catching the level of modern civilization in every field. Atatürk also revealed the method of this. He advised to use mind and science. We will use reason and science. Our scientists will guide us, direct our farmers and apply the world's most advanced agricultural techniques, fruit growing techniques, and plant protection methods in this geography. Turkey will be an example to all. Egirdir is one of the most historic districts. It is one of the most beautiful districts with its lake, forest and greenery. Isparta has a wide geography on fruit growing. And most importantly, it has institutions. The wealth of a country is human wealth. Investment in human is the most valuable investment. You are the ones who will develop this country, we are us. You are the valuable engineers who will give this farmer the support he deserves. I wish the workshop to be successful and I offer my respects. "

Isparta University of Applied Sciences (ISUBU) Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Plant Protection, Assoc. Dr. S. Evrim Arıcı presented On the "Alternative Methods of Combating in Fruit Diseases",

Dr. Coordinator Ayşe Uysal Morca from General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Policies

 presented on"Fruit Diseases Seen in Cold Storage",

Dr. Oncul Kaangün Caner from Bornova Plant Protection Research Institute on Drug, Instrument, Toxicology and Weed Department informed the participants about "Pesticide Application Techniques and Calibration in Orchards".

The Panel on "Plant Protection Management Problems and Solutions in Orchards of the Lakes Region II" ended after the general evaluation.
