Institute consist of six main departments;

GENERAL DUTIES 

  • To study the scope of the integrated programs and projects and such projects to provide any technical and administrative support,
  • Conduct researches in matters within the study area, to determining the nutritional value and to increase the use of facilities,
  • Conduct research on issues on organic agriculture and good agricultural practices,
  • In order to put into practice of the research results with provincial offices, public, private sector and non-governmental organizations to cooperate, to organize joint programs, set up demonstrations in farm conditions, and contribute to the extension,
  • To organize scientific meetings and training programs, at the technical level for regional, national and international seminars, conferences, symposia, conferences and workshops,
  • Edit and publish case reports of research results commissioned by the institute,
  • Being operative issues to prepare research projects international organizations and networks, public and private institutions, execute and take part in this project organizations and NGOs as regional, national and international levels to cooperate in R&D activities,
  • Ensure the use of information technology while physical, human, financial and project capacity to develop of the Institute,
  • Conduct to socio-economic research in matters within the jurisdiction,
  • To work in the production and investment costs, that issues of task topic / basic agricultural products,
  • Investigate ways of solution considering the problems by the implementing agencies and manufacturer,
  • Make efforts to increase the efficiency of the Institute floating capital funds,
  • Regardless of to be given to other tasks by General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Policies (TAGEM), 

SPECIAL DUTIES 

  • Breeding and cultivation techniques in line with market demand new varieties, race, and line efficiency and improve quality, disease, improve resistance to pests and adverse environmental conditions,
  • While these tasks using new techniques and technologies, such as biotechnology, basic and applied research to do,
  • Conduct research on agricultural mechanization and information technology, precision farming techniques and early warning systems, plant nutrition and to increase the efficiency of the pesticides, to reduce harvest and post-harvest product losses,
  • To collect and evaluate data on national basis on study issues,
  • About figs, protection of biodiversity, and ensuring the sustainable use for the collection of plant genetic resources, housing, defining, when necessary taking culture, and working on the subject for use in breeding programs,
  • To register varieties and lines, developed as a result of the improvement work then ensure the continuity of breeding material,
  • Do applied researches to develop techniques to reduce losses fig harvest and post-harvest, drying and processing techniques issues,
  • Maintaining the base material parcel will be essential to create certification to transfer the material to manufacturers who demand high quality production,
  • To conduct studies on fig pest and disease control methods,
  • To develop appropriate methods and technologies for the efficient use of water in agriculture,
  • Investigate and develop the effects of soil fertility and quality on plant nutrients and soil regulatory with appropriate fertilization techniques,
  • Study issues on layer hens and broiler chickens as; stock keeping, feeding and housing, organic producing, free range system, conventional system, enriched cage system works.
