INTER-INSTITUTIONAL COOPERATION FOR THE PROTECTION OF ENDANGERED PLANT SPECIES IN ANKARA

Within the scope of the "Inter-Institutional Cooperation Protocol for the Protection of Endangered Plant Species in Ankara" and "Species Conservation Action Plan and Protocol for Conservation of Other Endangered Species" to which our Institute is also a side, an online meeting was held on 01.03.2022 with the participation of General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks IX. Regional Directorate, Field Crops Central Research Institute, Directorate of National Botanical Garden of Türkiye, Soil, Fertilizer and Water Resources Central Research Institute, Ankara University and Hacettepe University to determine the study topics and to draw the roadmap.

Our Institute Director, Dr. Hümeyra YAMAN, Head of Biodiversity and Genetic Resources Department Şenay BOYRAZ TOPALOĞLU, Agricultural Engineer Mine ERTEM, Dr. Nur KOYUNCU from Department of Biotechnology attended the meeting. At the meeting, studies to contribute to the in-situ and ex-situ conservation of Ankara endemic plants were evaluated within the framework of the inter-institutional cooperation protocol. Activities to be carried out were planned by exchanging views on the collection of seeds of endemic plants, seed physiology and micropropagation.
