History

Our institution was established as the Beekeeping Production Station Directorate with the decision of the Council of Ministers numbered 94/22149 on December 22, 1994. It was later converted to the Beekeeping Research Institute Directorate with the approval of the Ministry on May 30, 1995. With the Decree-Law numbered 639 dated June 3, 2011, it was transformed into the Beekeeping Research Station Directorate.

In 1998, an area of 87 hectares was selected as the campus for the construction of institutional service buildings in Dedeli Neighborhood, situated on the Ordu-Sivas highway and located 12 km from the city center of Ordu. Until 2005, the institution provided its services from the service buildings of the Ordu Provincial Directorate of Agriculture. Following the completion of the construction works, the Dedeli Campus became operational on January 10, 2005, and has been serving as the new location for the institution's services since then.

As a result of the restructuring of our Ministry, the Institution was reorganized as the Beekeeping Research Institute Directorate in accordance with the Council of Ministers Decree No. 7706, which was published and enforced in the Official Gazette on June 23, 2015, and the Council of Ministers Decree No. 639, which was published on June 3, 2011. Currently, the Institution operates under the Agricultural Research and Policies General Directorate of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

According to the Presidential Decree on the Presidential Organization, published in the Official Gazette on July 10, 2018, the Institution continues its activities as the Beekeeping Research Institute Directorate under the Agricultural Research and Policies General Directorate of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
