History

The Institute was established in 1937 under the name of "Pistachio Station" and until 1974 served as training graft masters, supplying graft materials and grafting wild pistachio trees. The research studies were started in 1974 and many problems encountered from the production of pistachio to its consumption have been resolved with these projects.

The foundation still serves under the name of "Pistachio Research Institute" and has carried out researh studies on important fruit species (Pistachio, almond, vineyard, olive) in the region with expert researchers on plant breeding, cultivation techniques, plant health, plant nutrition, irrigation, and food technologies.  Thus, the institute serves as a leader foundation on introducing the newly developing agricultural techniques to the growers of the region. The institute with the advisory support and trainings given by its experienced and expert technical staff has gained farmers' trust.

The institute also has gene banks with a large collection of pistachios and vineyards. Our facilities also include plant protection, soil-plant analysis, food and biotechnology laboratories. The research studies are conducted by 23 researchers with master's and doctorate degrees and specialized in different fields.

Addition to the production and research studies that conducted on a total area of 1350 decares, it also serves to meet the sapling needs of the growers.
