As part of the 2025 Innovation Extension Projects coordinated by the Directorate of Training, Extension and Publications of our Ministry, the distribution of bumblebee colonies to greenhouses was carried out within the scope of the project titled "Bumblebees Are Our Future, Quality Is Our Goal", which is being implemented in collaboration between our Institute and the Amasya Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry. The event was attended by the Governor of Amasya, Mr. Önder BAKAN, the Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, Mr. Gürol ÇETİN, our Director Mr. Şeref CINBIRTOĞLU, and local farmers.
Bumblebees are the second most important pollinator group after honey bees and are widely used especially in protected cultivation systems such as greenhouses. Due to their effectiveness in pollination, their ability to reduce labor requirements, and their contribution to increasing both the quantity and quality of yields, bumblebees play a key role in greenhouse production particularly in crops such as tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, and strawberries.
