Culture Protocol Developed for Local Microalgae Strains

Our institute’s researcher Atila Haşimoğlu has successfully defended his doctoral thesis and earned the title of PhD. The study was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Çiftçi.

The research focused on the optimization of culture conditions for locally isolated microalgae strains from the Black Sea, Chlorella vulgaris and Stichococcus deasonii, as well as the effects of environmental stress factors on biomass, lipid yield, and biochemical composition.

This study presents the first comprehensive culture protocol for Black Sea-origin C. vulgaris and S. deasonii, demonstrating their potential usability in biotechnological applications, particularly due to their high lipid yields and valuable biochemical contents.

The findings provide significant contributions to both the field of microalgae biotechnology and the sustainable use of Black Sea resources.
