Common Maritime Agenda for the Black Sea
Sustainable Marine Aquaculture in the Black Sea: Sectoral Collaborations and Future Approaches – Follow-up Workshop
Common Maritime Agenda for the Black Sea (CMA) was approved by the Ministers of the Black Sea coastal countries, including our country, on May 21, 2019 as a continuation of the 2018 Burgas Ministerial Declaration. This initiative adopted for the Black Sea is supported by the “Marine Basins Assistance Mechanism Project for the Atlantic, Black Sea and Western Mediterranean” implemented by the European Climate Infrastructure and Environmental Executive Agency (CINEA) and the European Commission Directorate General for Maritime and Fisheries (DG MARE) to support the European Commission's marine basin strategies.
Within the scope of this project, Turkey's CMA National Coordinator, Under the leadership of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and With the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, under the coordination of the Turkish National Focus METU Marine Sciences Institute and hosted by the Central Fisheries Research Institute (SUMAE), a hybrid workshop on “Sustainable Marine Cultivation in the Black Sea: Sectoral Collaborations and Future Approaches – Follow-up Workshop” will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025 between 09:30-17:00.
This event is built on the outputs of the first national workshop titled "Innovative Seafood Cultivation and Sectoral Synergistic Approaches" held in December 2023, and aims to take concrete steps towards sustainable seafood cultivation in the Black Sea and to develop sectoral cooperation.
Within the scope of the event, resistant production models against environmental pressures, sustainable practices at different stages of the value chain and increasing public-private sector interaction in these processes will be discussed.
Another aim of the event is to discuss cooperation opportunities that can be developed between the public and private sectors within the framework of the European Union and national fund calls and to prepare the ground for the shaping of concrete project ideas in this direction. In this context, the meeting aims to develop a common vision on sustainable cultivation among policy makers, sector representatives, researchers and academics.
We will be very happy to see relevant public institutions, academicians and private sector representatives working in the field of marine cultivation at our event. After the registrations are completed, up-to-date information about the meeting and link information will be shared with all registered participants via e-mail.
Registrations can be made until May 25, 2025 via the link below.
