​Some factor cause degradation on physical structure and biology of soil such as frequent cultivation for acquiring more crop from the unit of an area with the aim of meeting food necessity of rapidly growing population, pressure on ecosystem which is created by using uncontrolled increase of inputs like synthetic and chemical fertilizers, climate change, pollution of underground waters and atmosphere (increase of greenhouse gases). For the reasons outlined above, department of agricultural environment mainly study on systems, application and research subjects which improve protection of natural sources like soil, water and atmosphere within the framework of sustainable agriculture.​
