Geographic Information Systems

Geographic Information System and Remote Sensing Research Department was established in year 1997 through "In situ conservation of genetic variabilitiy Project" which is supported by GEF fund of World Bank. There are ESRI- ArcGis and Erdas Imagine software licences and necessary hardware at the department. There are also NOAA-HRPT receiving station at the department. NOAA HRPT images are daily received and archieved as raw and processed data. Those images are used for drought monitoring and wheat crop yield prediction studies. The department is under General Directorate of Agricultural Research, Central Research Institute for Field Crops, Ankara, TURKEY.
