BLACKBERRY CULTIVATION EDUCATION PROJECT HAS BEEN APPROVED IN THE PROGRAM OF WOMEN FARMERS MEET WITH AGRICULTURAL INNOVATIONS

The project organized by Konya Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, Eğirdir Fruit Research Institute and Derbent District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry; which will be done in Derbent district of Konya Province prepared within the scope of "Women Farmers Meet Agricultural Innovations Programme", has been approved by the Education and Extension Department of Ministry Of Agriculture And Forestry. Eğirdir Fruit Research Institute subject expert. Dr. Seçkin GARGIN will hold training and informative meeting on "Technical Blackberry Cultivation" for our women farmers. The project, which aims to bring our women farmers together with agricultural innovations, especially new products with high added value, Project will last for 1 year and blackberry orchard will be and demonstrated. Our country's ecology is suitable for blackberry cultivation, it is easy that it yields fruit in a short time it yields high yield per unit area, it is higher price than other fruits and  different consumption methods increase the importance of blackberry cultivation. In recent years, interest in blackberry production has also increased in Central Anatolia and Konya. It is planned to implement the said training project on blackberry cultivation for women farmers who have deficiencies in such production techniques which have just started cultivation. They will receive information from trainers who are experts in their fields, women living in rural areas and engaged in production activities will be guided on issues such as increasing their self-confidence and entrepreneurial courage, increasing their businesses, encouraging their membership in cooperatives and unions. With the project, it is aimed to contribute visibly to rural development by leading projects on fruit growing and similar issues.

The control and implementation works to be carried out during the project will be carried out by the technical team of Derbent District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry. In this project, technical farmer trips and field days etc. organizations will be held. One of the personnel of our institution, Agricultural Engineer Dr. Seçkin GARGIN will do activities with local people the training and demonstration. We hope that the approved project will be beneficial to all institutions, trainers and especially our target audience, women farmers.
